Collaborations can involve complexity in managing the interrelationships between confidentiality, use of existing Intellectual Property (IP), publication of information, commercialisation and decision making around IP rights. These complexities mean that it is important to consider IP management at the outset.

Organised by Intellera Consulting in collaboration with the European IP Helpdesk in the context of the DIH-World project, the webinar will provide Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) with a better understanding of how to protect and leverage their intellectual assets, and how to negotiate and manage mutually beneficial collaborations.

The European IP Helpdesk supports European SMEs and research teams involved in cross-border business and/or EU-funded research activities manage, disseminate and valorise their IP. Offering a broad range of informative material, a Helpline service for direct IP support as well as on-site and online training, our main goal is to support IP capacity building along the full scale of IP practices: from awareness to strategic use and successful exploitation.

It will be an occasion to understand key Intellectual Property (IP) issues which need to be addressed in collaborations, particularly IP management, protection, and licensing. The focus will be on ICT and software technologies, which have their own unique challenges and opportunities with respect to IP Rights (IPR), exploitation and business models.
